
Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg was one of several protesters taken away by police during a demonstration against the expansion of a coal mine in western Germany.
The nearby village of Luetzerath was evacuated by the police in recent days and remained isolated.
Thunberg was one of several protesters who ran to the edge of the Garzweiler strip mine.
Police said it was dangerous and people were forbidden from staying there.
