Prosecutor Madara Griķe said that the prosecutors objected in court because “there is news that the person is abroad and has been declared wanted, but the court considered that it is not sufficiently credible that Gulami is on the run.”

“I insisted that he tell me what country he was in.

He said he was in Latvia, but did not specify a specific location. But after that, speaking by himself, speaking at length, he himself mentioned the following sentence – “when I return to Latvia”.

Therefore, it indicates that he is not in Latvia,” said the prosecutor.

The fact that Gulami is most likely outside of Latvia is indicated by the information provided to Latvian Television by the Riga District Court, that is, the court that decided on the need to put Gulami on the wanted list: “[..] after checking its declared place of residence, it was established that the person is probably outside Latvia.” [..] Under the stated circumstances, the judge considered that it is necessary to announce the person wanted.”

Why Riga city judge Agita Dmitrenokas, who hears the zero-mentioned criminal case for fraud and falsification of documents, believes that Gulami is still in Latvia, will be known no earlier than Monday – the judge is currently in the process of making a decision and it is forbidden to disturb her in order to clarify the arguments.
