Emergency operation was solved with 20 diesel generators set up for this purpose after the nuclear power plant was disconnected from the power grid. The speed was also very necessary because only 15 days of diesel fuel are available in the area of the nuclear power plant, which could be used to operate the emergency diesel generators.
Rafael Grossi, the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, warned earlier that until now we have only been able to thank luck that there has been no nuclear disaster in the middle of the fighting.
The Zaporizhzhya power plant is Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, which has been under Russian control since March last year, but is still largely operated by Ukrainian workers.
