Klitschko: power supply in Kyiv has been completely restored
The power supply has been fully restored in the Ukrainian capital after the fierce Russian missile attack on Thursday morning, Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko announced.
The restoration of the district heating service is still underway, currently 30 percent of the district-heated houses do not have heating, but the service companies promise to restore it in every household within a day, he added.
Several districts of Kiev were hit by the rocket attack, and at least two people were injured. As of Thursday, 40 percent of the citizens of the capital remained without electricity due to the extraordinary power outage – reminded the Ukrainska Pravda news portal.
Serhiy Sukhomlin, the mayor of Zhytomir, the county seat west of Kyiv, said at his press conference that due to the Russian air attack, about half of the residents of the settlement were still without electricity in the afternoon. Russia attacked the city’s energy infrastructure with Iranian-made self-destructing Sahid drones. “The consequences are quite serious in Zhytomyr, there was no water in the apartments in the morning due to the power outage,” he said. “At some of the vital infrastructural buildings, we generate electricity with generators. These are water utilities, heat and communal facilities,” he added. The city manager confirmed that electric public transport does not work in the city. Diesel-powered buses are also used in these conditions, but there are not enough of them.
Prime Minister Denisz Smihal wrote on Telegram that as a result of the Russian missile attack on Thursday morning, power generation and distribution facilities were damaged in eight regions of Ukraine, but overall the Ukrainian energy system remained functional. Temporary power outages may occur in some areas, but specialists are constantly working to correct errors.
