The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine explains why the Bakhmut operation is so important

The defense operation in the direction of Bakhmut has a very important strategic importance in deterring the enemy and is crucial for the durability of the defense of the entire front, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhny, confirmed on Tuesday.

The defense operation in the direction of Bakhmut has a very important strategic importance in deterring the enemy and is crucial for the durability of the defense of the entire front, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhny, confirmed on Tuesday.

“I respect the endurance, courage and steadfastness of our soldiers in Bakhmut. The defensive operation in this direction has a very important strategic importance in deterring the enemy. It is crucial for the durability of the defense of the entire front.”

“Thank you to every defender who gives proper resistance to the occupiers and brings the victory of Ukraine closer,” Zaluzhny wrote on the Telegram platform.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi met with top military commanders on Tuesday and agreed that Ukrainian soldiers should remain in Bakhmut, Zelenskyi’s office said.

“Looking at the progress of the defense operation towards Bahmut, everyone [Augstākā virspavēlnieka] members of the headquarters expressed a common position on the further holding and defense of the city of Bakhmut,” the statement said.
