American actress Rose McGowan made a statement years later about the outfit she wore at the MTV Video Music Awards ceremony in 1998.
McGowan, 25 at the time he attended the ceremony, said that he wore the outfit in which he appeared almost completely naked, in response to the sexual assault he was subjected to.
“There was a reason I wore that outfit,” said McGowan in an interview, and said, “It was my first appearance in public after I was raped.”

The famous actor said, “It was something like Russell Crowe and Gladiator and when Gladiator showed up in the ring, ‘Aren’t you having fun?’ I thought it was like saying. That’s why I did this. “That was my response to the attack,” he said.
McGowan accused Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein of raping him in 1997. The famous actor was one of the first names to speak against Weinstein, who was accused by many women of harassment and rape.
McGowan also co-founded the anti-harassment #MeToo and Time’s Up movements in Hollywood.
McGowan attended last year, Dr. Mehmet Oz’s Dr. On his show called Oz, he also spoke about his iconic dress and said, “I’ve never worn such an outfit before. This was a political statement. Of course at that time there was no Instagram and Twitter, you had no means of expressing yourself ”he said.
