The Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal has won for the fourteenth time in his career the Roland Garros in Paris, the most important tournament played on clay and one of the four that make up the Grand Slam. Nadal, who turned 36 two days ago, beat the Norwegian Casper Ruud, thirteen years younger, in three sets without major problems (6-3, 6-3, 6-0).

Nadal won the first of his fourteen Roland Garros in 2005, seventeen years ago. Fourteen are also the finals he played in Paris: he has never lost one. Thanks to this long series of victories at the French Open, combined with the four US Open, the two Wimbledons and the two Australian Open, Nadal has confirmed himself as the most successful player of all time in the Grand Slam tournaments, with a total of 22 victories out of 31 finals played (with the other tournaments they make 92 victories in all, the fourth ever).

The one played on Sunday in Paris, however, could also be the last. In fact, the rumors of his retirement are quite insistent, motivated by age and above all by the problem in his left foot with which he has lived for years: a congenital malformation of a bone (the scaphoid) that Nadal has always had to take into account in recent years, in addition to other physical problems related to age and his intense and muscular style of play.
