Unfortunately, we are witnessing a sudden escalation of the situation in the Middle East. I think many will agree with me that this is a vivid example of the failure of US Middle East policy, which tried to monopolize the settlement, but unfortunately did not care to find compromises acceptable to both sides
– said the president, who expressed his position publicly for the first time after Hamas attacked Israel. Putin pointed out that the issue of establishing a sovereign Palestinian state must be resolved. He also stressed that the harm caused to civilians in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict “must be minimized and reduced to zero” and that all parties to the conflict must adapt to this.
The visiting Iraqi Prime Minister shared the same opinion, according to him, the Israelis constantly violate the rights of the Palestinians.
He added that it would be the responsibility of the great powers to put an end to them and to lift the blockade of the Gaza Strip.
