On Thursday, March 9, 10 drivers were brought to criminal proceedings for driving under the influence of strong or at least 1.5 ppm alcohol or narcotic substances, the State Police informs.

On Thursday, March 9, 10 drivers were brought to criminal proceedings for driving under the influence of strong or at least 1.5 ppm alcohol or narcotic substances, the State Police informs.

In the past 24 hours, 120 road traffic accidents were registered in Latvia, five of which resulted in a total of five victims. One of the injured was a pedestrian.

A total of 464 administrative violation protocols were drawn up yesterday for various violations of traffic rules, and about a quarter are for driving too fast.

Yesterday, the police managed to catch a total of 12 drivers on the roads of Latvia who sat behind the wheel while intoxicated. One of these drivers was under the influence of narcotic substances, and 11 were under the influence of alcohol.

Two drivers have received an administrative penalty for drunk driving, meanwhile, criminal proceedings have been initiated against ten drivers, because they participated in road traffic while either under the influence of at least 1.5 parts per million or under the influence of narcotics.

Two such drivers will have to part with their vehicle, while the value of the used vehicles will be recovered from eight.
