Neymar was fined 16 million reais (equivalent to HUF 1.15 billion) by the Brazilian authorities. The penalty was imposed for violating environmental regulations during the construction of the lavish mansion in southeastern Brazil.
The luxury project was found to be in violation of regulations regarding the use and displacement of fresh water sources, rock and sand. These allegations were originally made towards the end of last month and were subsequently confirmed on Monday.
The castle in question is located in the city of Mangaratiba on the southern coast of the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro, and the the environmental protection office also issued a statement in which it highlighted that “during the construction of the artificial lake in the castle” environmental protection regulations had been violated. This statement further reinforces the allegations against Neymar’s construction project.
In addition to the fine, several local bodies are investigating the matter further.
