Moment boy, 16, kills army veteran, 82, with single punch to the head

This is the horrific second an 82-year-old veteran was punched to the floor and killed with a single punch to the head.

Omar Moumeche, then 16, attacked Dennis Clarke at Derby bus station on 27 April 2021, after Mr Clarke described Moumeche and his mates for enjoying on the escalator.

Mr Clarke suffered a fractured cranium and bleeding on the mind and died in hospital 9 days after the assault.

Moumeche, now 18, was discovered responsible of manslaughter in July and sentenced to two years in youth custody at Derby Crown Court on Friday.

Moumeche, from Derby, fled the bus station however was arrested inside minutes.

Detective Inspector Mark Shaw stated: ‘Our investigation concerned the seize of CCTV footage and quite a few witness accounts, which had been offered throughout the trial.

The defendant claimed he acted in self-defence, and the jury on steadiness and the excessive threshold required to settle for his model of occasions refused.

The household of ‘Dennis’ had been current throughout the hearings and acted with full dignity throughout the trial and together with when the responsible verdict was returned and I thank them for that.

‘The tragic occasions of that day had a devastating impact on the households of Mr Clarke and the defendant himself.

The actions of ‘Mr Moumeches’ in that second could have an enduring impression on the quick time period whereas he’s serving his custodial sentence, and post-sentence as he tries to transfer on.

Andrew Baxter, from the CPS, stated: ‘Dennis Clarke’s tragic dying was the results of this younger man’s intimidating and aggressive behaviour, refusing to again down and never figuring out when to stroll away.

No additional motion was taken towards two different teenage boys who had been arrested at the time in connection with the assault.
