Gergely Gulyás said that János Bóka, who is currently the State Secretary responsible for European Union affairs at the Ministry of Justice, will take up the position from August 1.
Gergely Gulyás said that the Prime Minister had agreed with the future Minister of Justice Bence Tuzson that he would lead a “clean” Ministry of Justice, therefore Prime Minister Viktor Orbán entrusted State Secretary János Bóka with the management of European Union affairs, who will manage this area as minister.
The appointment of János Bóka as minister is also justified by the fact that in the second half of 2024, Hungary will assume the presidency of the European Union (EU), so the task of the new minister is to coordinate the preparations for the presidency with the country’s EU allies, as well as with the portfolios within the government, he explained. The Prime Minister will make a proposal to the President of the Republic for the appointment of János Bóka on August 1.
