On September 27, the VDD started criminal proceedings against one person for possibly glorifying and justifying the crimes committed by the aggressor Russia in Ukraine, as well as activities aimed at inciting national and ethnic hatred and discord, the service informed the LETA agency.

The criminal process against the person has been started, after the service evaluated the person’s recent statements on the messaging platform “Telegram”.

The VDD found that a person published voice messages on his channel on the “Telegram” platform to an unlimited number of people, in which he expressed his appreciation of the crimes committed by the Russian armed forces against Ukraine and its people. Also, in the published voice messages, the person belittles and denigrates the citizens of Latvia and Ukraine.

VDD has sent the criminal process to the State Police for further investigation in accordance with its jurisdiction.

It has already been reported that in the audio posted on social media, Rieksts can be heard expressing his satisfaction with Russia’s aggression in Ukraine.

“Thanks to the Russians should be said that they are bombing Ukrainians, these ignorant fools. Because I say that there is no need for stupid nations in the world. The same thing will happen in Latvia. And it should be said thanks to the Russians that they will clean Latvia of stupid people,” said Rieksts.

“I feel sorry for the kids, of course, but if these scumbags are sitting at home when you realize they’re in a war zone… well, every house can be wiped out, and they’re sitting in their apartments drinking. Hope is a fool’s comfort, you know ,” can be heard in the audio recording.

The nut claims that the war will start soon and it will be exactly the same. For disabled people, who will be after the war with their legs and arms torn off, the Nut will spit in the poor man’s stomach, because it is their own fault.

Later after this audio, Rieksts commented in another audio on the impact of a Russian missile in the Kharkiv region, where at least 51 people were recently killed. “The world is being purged of scum, which is a good thing because the scumbags have been able to get out of the country for the past two years,” the recording reads.

The nut has expressed the opinion that there is no point in sitting in a war zone and waiting for a bullet to fly to the head.

In August, the Prosecutor’s Office of the Riga District Court transferred to the Riga City Court the criminal case regarding the tragic fire in the illegal hostel in Riga, on Merķeļa Street, in which nine people died. Ernests Rieksts and Andrejs Gailis are accused in the case. The court hearing is scheduled for December 11 at 10.

The prosecutor’s office told the LETA agency on Monday that Riekstas has no security measures in the fire case. The previously established security measures could no longer be applied in accordance with the law, so they were abolished.

In the case, two persons are accused of such criminal offenses, which provide for responsibility both for conducting business without registration, causing significant damage to the state, and for willful violation of fire safety regulations, which resulted in the death of several people, transfer to the court for consideration on the merits.

On the morning of April 28, 2021, a fire broke out in one of the rooms of the hostel, as a result of which eight people died and one more person was injured due to various injuries directly related to the fire – thermal burns of the body and respiratory tract, poisoning with stove gas and combustion products died in a medical facility.

As a result of the fire, the personal belongings of the hostel residents worth several thousand euros were destroyed. The gable roof of the building belonging to the community of owners of the multi-apartment residential building was also destroyed with all its structures, causing material damage in the amount of several tens of thousands of euros.

Previously, Rieksts was mentioned in the press as a hostel owner, hostel manager and “the biggest hostel owner in the Baltics”. “Firmas.lv” information shows that Riekst used to own several companies, which have already been liquidated. Currently, the data does not show his connection with owned companies or his activity on company boards.

The nut was wanted, but was later arrested by the police. Even before his arrest, in an audio message distributed on the Internet, Rieksts claimed that his search was a “politician’s PR polish”. In his message, Rieksts also claimed that the burned premises on Merķela Street were not a hostel, but a rental apartment. He also claimed that fire safety in the apartment was “at a high level” and “there were smoke detectors everywhere”.

Rieksts claimed at the time that he had not been in the premises on Merķela Street for a year and a half and “completely different people were working there and managing everything”.

In his message, Rieksts also presented his possible versions of the fire, that is, assuming that it was deliberately set arson.
