Three people lost their lives in Carnikava sea due to underwater currents, but the arrival of rescuers was delayed by a metal barrier with which the local government closed the road to the sea, reports the program “Degpunktā”.
The municipality has placed a metal barrier on the road leading to the water, which until now was closed with a lock.
Aigars Kairišs, a doctor and reanimatologist of the NMPD medical specialist team, explains: “From the side of the emergency services, it should be mentioned that it was difficult for us to access the victims.
It was a long enough distance to walk along the dirt road and the beach. The municipality had closed the access road. This, of course, hindered our arrival at the scene of the accident at some point.”
He commented on the distance that had to be covered: “At a glance, about one and a half kilometers, maybe two hundred kilometers. [DP: Kas ir tā aparatūra, ko jums nācās nest?] Defibrillator, lung artificial ventilation equipment, medicine bag. Our total equipment is about 30 to 40 kilograms.”
