A resident of Jēkabpils region accidentally came across a very dangerous First World War mine in Daugava. If ruthless actions were carried out, the consequences could be fatal, reports the program “Degpunktā”.
The object is a World War I anchor mine. The mine shell was full of about 40 kilograms of explosives.
Ivars Kuznetsovs, a specialist and staff boatman of the NBS Naval Minesweeper Squadron’s Diver Team, if incorrect and reckless actions were taken, the mine would have exploded with a radius of action and splinter debris of up to half a kilometer.
