Addressing the participants of diaspora collectives at the Ķīpsala International Exhibition Center, Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš (JV) announced that every Latvian living abroad is a value and invited them to return to their homeland.
He urged the Latvians living abroad, when they return to their home countries, to look at how to return to Latvia, at least with one eye.
The Prime Minister wanted the Latvians living abroad to nurture their identity and instill it in their children as well. According to him, the diaspora collectives participating in the XXVII General Latvian Song and XVII Dance Festival prove that it can be done.
“Our culture and nation is a cross-border phenomenon. We are able to survive and develop in the most diverse conditions,” said the Prime Minister.
As announced, on Monday evening the international exhibition center of Ķipsala has turned into the participants of the diaspora collectives of the World Latvian Assembly House. The event will include a concert by foreign Latvian collectives, singing and dancing.
