Riga Stradins University (RSU) has announced a competition for the position of science professor or tenured professor in natural sciences, the university explained.
The main responsibilities of the tenured professor include developing the applied research program in the specific group and field of sciences, attracting the necessary funding for the implementation of the research program, managing research projects, as well as participating in international consortia and projects. Also, the professor of science has to supervise the works of doctoral and postdoctoral students, prepare scientific publications and communicate research results, as well as develop research infrastructure and research methods.
Applicants must have an impeccable reputation and recognition in their research field, as well as a doctorate in science and at least three years of work experience as an associate professor or professor. Likewise, applicants must have a Hirsch index of at least 15, while “Scopus”/”Web of Science” indexed publications in the last three years must correspond to the industry group of the position.
Applicants must have experience in teaching work in providing high-level studies, as well as in the management of international and/or national-level research projects and in the preparation and management of projects funded by the European Union’s research innovation programs – “Horizon 2020”, “Horizon Europe” – evaluated above the quality threshold or equivalent and in partnership.
Applicants who wish to participate in the competition must electronically submit an application for participation in the competition addressed to RSU Rector, a letter of motivation with a vision of the goals to be achieved, a research plan for six years, as well as a description of the applicant’s life and career (CV), which indicates the scientific, pedagogical and organizational work experience and summaries of work results or descriptions of achievements.
Copies of documents certifying scientific and academic degrees, self-certification of English language skills, as well as information on persons who can provide recommendations or references from cooperation partners, employers or professional associations in which the applicant has worked or is working, must also be attached to the application.
The salary is 5,000 euros per month before taxes.
