The “Progressive” party does not connect what is happening in the Riga City Council with the negotiations on the expansion of the government coalition, the co-chairman of the “Progressive” party, Saeima member Andris Šuvajevs said today after the party’s discussion on health policy organized by the “New Unity” (JV).
Shuvayev pointed out that today the politicians discussed only health care issues.
Shuvajevs claimed that Riga has lost the best mayor it has ever had, but the “Progressives” are sure that political disagreements and challenges will be sorted out in the Riga City Council.
Also, next week there will be a bilateral meeting between “Progresivajie” and JV.
As reported, the ruling coalition of the Riga City Council has split after the conflict over the evaluation of the work of the Transport Department, as a result of which Riga Mayor Mārtiņš Staķis (PP) announced his resignation. Vilnis ķirsis (JV) has become acting mayor. The disintegration of the coalition was caused by disagreements between “Progressives” and JV, which were later accompanied by a series of mutual insults.
