The state police has detained a man who is suspected in connection with several damaged cars with a kitchen hammer – an ax on May 18, in Bauska district, Iecava, the police informed.

The state police has detained a man who is suspected in connection with several damaged cars with a kitchen hammer – an ax on May 18, in Bauska district, Iecava, the police informed.

Upon receiving information about the incident, a criminal trial was initiated and the possible culprit was identified – a man born in 1989, who was arrested the next day. The man was placed in custody today and the investigation in the criminal process continues. At the same time, the police are calling on people who may have committed similar crimes at the same time to come forward.

On May 18, around 12 o’clock in the Dienvidzemgale precinct of the Zemgale regional administration, information was received from one of the victims about the intentional damage to several vehicles in Iecava, on Tirgus Street.

Police officials found damage to five vehicles at the scene, two of which were BMW, one Ford, Nissan and Volvo cars. A possible crime tool – a kitchen hammer – an ax was found at the scene near one of the damaged cars.

Officials of the South Zemgale station of the Zemgale Regional Administration of the State Police initiated criminal proceedings for the incident according to the first part of Section 185 of the Criminal Law for the intentional destruction or damage of someone else’s property and immediately expanded operational measures.
