Hanoi flights halted as city faces worsening air pollution

HANOI – All flights to and from the worldwide airport in Vietnam’s capital Hanoi have been delayed or diverted to different cities on Friday as a consequence of heavy fog and worsening air pollution, an airport official mentioned.

Air Visual, an unbiased on-line air high quality index monitor, mentioned Hanoi’s ranges of small hazardous particles identified as PM2.5 within the air have been at an all-time excessive of 257 micrograms per cubic meter early Friday.

“All incoming flights are being diverted to different cities, together with Haiphong or Danang. None of them can take off in the meanwhile,” mentioned an official at Noi Bai International Airport, declining to be named.
