Eintracht Frankfurt fans showed enormous interest in the Europa League final.
The German club has received 100,000 (!) Ticket requests, he says kicker.
– As great as the joy of our fans’ support is, ticket distribution will now be just as challenging, says Axel Hellman, spokesman for Eintracht Frankfurt.
20,000 tickets. This is the number that Eintracht Frankfurt and Rangers shared in the Europa League final, which is played at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán in Seville, with space for just over 40,000 spectators.
But far more than the 10,000 Eintracht Frankfurt fans who will receive a ticket want to see the match on the spot. The club received 100,000 (!) Requests for tickets.
– We were expecting a very large wave of requests, but this interest in 48 hours is gigantic and has exceeded our expectations, Axel Hellman tells Kicker.
New Spanish invasion to wait
Eintracht Frankfurt makes its first European final in 42 years. And even if the club didn’t expect 100,000 ticket requests, it won’t come as a big shock that there is huge interest among fans to get to Sevilla.
In the quarter-finals, which, like the final, were played in Spain, the Eintracht fans had to face an out-of-the-ordinary crowd blow. 30,000 Germans would have been on the spot in Barcelona and at the Camp Nou.
For the final, only one tenth of the interested fans will get a ticket through the club.
– We know that many will be disappointed. But I assure you that we will try to get all the tickets we can get through the official channels to give as many fans as possible the chance to be in Seville, says Axel Hellman.
In addition to the 20,000 tickets awarded to the clubs, 7,000 tickets will go to UEFA and the rest will be sold to the public, he says Photo.
The final between Eintracht Frankfurt and Rangers will be played on 18 May.
