Sunday will be the hottest day of the month in Latvia, but in the afternoon a cold atmospheric front will cross the country from the west and thunderstorms will break out in places, forecasters predict.

Sunday will be the hottest day of the month in Latvia, but in the afternoon a cold atmospheric front will cross the country from the west and thunderstorms will break out in places, forecasters predict.

At night there will be few clouds, no wind and a slow south-easterly wind is expected. The minimum air temperature will be +8..+14 degrees, in places on the coast and Kurzeme it will not get colder than +15..+18 degrees.

The sun will warm up during the day, the amount of clouds will increase from the west of the country. In the afternoon, it will rain temporarily in places in Kurzeme, later in many places in the central part of Latvia, strong thunderstorms are expected in places, hail is also possible.

Moderate south, southeast wind with gusts of 9-14 meters per second will blow in Kaurmea. As cooler air flows in from the west, gusts of up to 18 meters per second are expected, but under the storm clouds, a much stronger wind – a storm – is possible.

The maximum air temperature will be +27..+32 degrees.

A small amount of clouds is expected in Riga on Sunday, it will increase in the afternoon, the south-east wind will gust up to 13 meters per second. In the west, it will rain for a short time, possibly a strong thunderstorm, which means not only heavy rain, but also the risk of hail and storm. The minimum temperature in the next night will be +16 degrees, in the suburbs +12..+14 degrees; on Sunday the air will warm up to +31 degrees.

On Monday, the air temperature will rise to +28 degrees, in the following days of July it will mostly not exceed +23 degrees, according to current weather forecasts.
