Little Justine Reinikova was reported missing on May 5. After that, an active search for the girl took place for more than a month, which ended in Dubuļu parish, where the girl was found dead in an abandoned house. Justine has now been buried, but the investigation continues, reports TV3 program “Degpunktā”.
The sandbox where Justine allegedly played on the day of her disappearance is now overgrown with grass. So is the entire courtyard of the Reinikov family. No one has been home for some time.
Justine’s half-brothers are staying with their father’s sister, who has taken on the responsibility of raising all the children. She is also said to be the only one who came to the abandoned family house in Rogovka to take various things needed by the children and take care of the pets.
What happened has left a significant impression on the residents of Rogovka, who now do not welcome newcomers to the village so warmly. The residents indirectly feel responsible for the fact that Justini was unable to protect them, and are therefore deeply distressed by what happened.
At the same time, the residents of Dubuli cannot believe that the girl’s father, Vladimir, who was such a nice boy as a child, could have committed an unfathomable crime.
The trial of Justine’s father and mother still has to wait, and the investigation is ongoing. The protective measure applied to the parents, detention, is still in effect.
It has already been reported that seven-year-old Justine Reinikova disappeared on May 5 in Rogovka, Nautreni Parish, Rēzekne County. The girl had health problems. It was said that the girl on Friday evening around 19 had left her place of residence and had not returned there.
Police and volunteers carried out extensive search operations, searching tens of square kilometers of territory, but the search did not yield results for a long time.
The girl’s body with visible injuries was found buried in the basement of an abandoned house, in the middle of the forest several dozen kilometers from the girl’s place of residence.

On June 21, the Rēzekne court decided to keep the persons arrested on June 20 – the girl’s father Vladimir Reinikova and her stepmother – in custody on suspicion of Justine’s murder. The arrest was made to prevent the possibility of the suspects interfering with the criminal proceedings.
