A criminal case has been sent to the Zemgale District Court in Bauska against a driver for causing a tragic accident while under the influence of 2.5 ppm, the prosecutor’s office announced.

On January 29 of last year, a man in Stelpė, being under the influence of 2.53 ppm, drove off the road with a Škoda Octavia car and crashed into pedestrian barriers. A part of the barrier – a 1.80 meter long pipe – crashed into the passenger compartment of the car, seriously injuring the passenger of the car, who died.

The driver left the scene of the accident and did not report the accident to the police.

In addition, the man was driving the vehicle without a driving license. They were taken away from him in the case of an administrative violation.

The accused does not admit his guilt in committing the criminal offenses charged against him.
