For lovers of four wheels, on the other hand, not to be missed, nearing its debut, is “American Auto”, set in Detroit. The list – news aside – in any case is really long. The TV series that have engines as protagonists seem to be winning for fans and not. On TV or online, accessible to all, here’s where to see the ones not to be missed.

Who would not want to know what lies between the choices of car companies? This is what “American Auto”, a comedy set in the headquarters of a large Detroit company, ironically reveals. To put this world in the spotlight, with the misadventures of a group of executives trying to restore the identity of the company in a rapidly changing sector, Justin Spitzer, the director of The Office himself: in the story also a CEO – Katherine Hastings (played by Suburgatory Ana Gasteyer), whose leadership, experience and sagacity try to make up for it … were it not for her utter incompetence on engines. Fortunately, his team includes some of the best minds in the business, as long as they’re not fighting or trying to outsmart each other… Season two is already in production, after a pilot episode and six episodes on NBC, now it is awaiting its debut in Italy.

On air on March 14, for motorsport lovers, the docu-series dedicated to the 2021 MotoGP World Championship: “MotoGP Unlimited”. Consisting of eight 50-minute episodes (on Amazon Prime), each follows the riders of the highest category on two wheels and their team managers, through exclusive videos. An intimate, unique and exclusive look that brings spectators closer to the challenges faced during the season, both on and off the circuit, also discovering what are the necessary requirements to participate in one of the most prestigious competitions in the world of two wheels. The protagonists? Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP), Valentino Rossi (Petronas Yamaha SRT) in his last season, Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda), Francesco “Pecco” Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team MotoGP), Johann Zarco (Ducati Pramac Racing), Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing Team Gresini), and the 2020 world champion Joan Mir (Team Suzuki Ecstar), as well as the sporting directors of the main teams.

For everyone

Designed for everyone, not just for engine specialists, “Formula 1 – Drive to Survive”: the docuseries is a Netflix original production, and aims to tell the world of F1 as it had never been done before. The format was a real success, so much so that it was also appreciated by non-fans who wanted to know more.

“Fast & Furious: undercover pilots”: on Netflix there is a spin-off of the famous saga and it is animated. The story is set two years after the eighth episode of the series and shows us Dominic’s teenage cousin Tony Toretto infiltrating an elite racing championship, which serves as a facade for a criminal organization. An animated series for children but, of course, not only …

Driver? For passion

Not just professional drivers or stuntmen, but “normal” drivers driving powerful and modified cars ready to give their best with drifting but also real stunts: you can see them on “Hyperdrive”, reality show on Netflix, in which the participants who carry out a common life go down for the occasion on tracks created ad hoc. Target? Test yourself and your cars between steep ramps and circles of fire.

In “Paul Hollywood’s Big Continental Road Trip” it is the turn of a chef passionate about motors. Also on Netflix you can enjoy Paul’s tours of Europe, aboard fascinating supercars and classic cars, discovering motorsport culture and good food. Italy, Germany, are the first stops in which he will meet motor collectors, taste hot dogs, fast cars and naturist communities, facing an exhilarating journey to the Nurburgring.

The format in “The Gentleman Driver” is different: a real documentary, which shows the transformation of four wealthy entrepreneurs into non-professional drivers. The cameras follow them struggling with work difficulties and those on the track where they compete in high-level Endurance competitions, learning to overcome their limits.

In the garage”

Another “specialty” on the air are the series dedicated to workshop work, such as “West Coast Customs”: the protagonist here is a mecca for fans of expensive cars: the episodes all revolve around a team, able to create vehicles among the most luxurious and eye-catching on the planet. They transform ordinary media into unique pieces: creations capable of attracting even celebrities (Netflix).

Seasons also streamed for “Car Masters – from rust to glory. ” The series follows a team from the Gotham Garage and their restoration works: here they transform scrap into racing cars. The idea behind it is to buy a old 1000 dollar car, regenerate and resell it, to earn a hundred thousand (Netflix).

Otherwise, the story of “Rust Bros” tells the life of three Canadian car restorers, lost in the mountains. The three characters and their hippy lifestyle are the added value of this series: the relationships between them, and their unique personalities give the extra touch to the format. They, in addition to the 400 non-working cars parked in the Canadian mountains, already become a cult all over the world (Netflix).

“Salt Lake Garage”: The Salt Lake City Garage team restores classic automobiles and creates bespoke specialty vehicles. The documentary shows how in recent years Dave Kindig and KevDogg have opened the doors to 12 contenders, ready to compete for a job in the prestigious custom car. From the series: never say never (Sky; Dmax).
