According to the news agency, the three involved

  • Russian businessman Grigory Berezkin, chairman of ESN Group,
  • Russian energy market entrepreneur Farhad Ahmedov,
  • and Russian e-commerce leader Alexander Sulgin.

Along with them, Grigory Suvayev, a Russian general who lost his life last year in the war in Ukraine, will also be removed from the sanctions list.

It is not known why the European Union does not extend the expiring sanctions against those involved. So far, the EU leadership has not made a big deal about the decision.

Currently, 1,600 individuals and 200 organizations are on the EU sanctions list.
