WE men’s national team figure Brenden Aaronson will join Bundesliga side Union Berlin on a one-year loan deal, The Athletic reported.
After a season in which Leeds United were relegated from the Premier League, Aaronson appears to be temporarily out the door. The US international initially won Leeds in May of 2022 for $30 million before recording one goal and three assists in 42 appearances in all competitions.
The 22-year-old would become the latest US player to move to the Bundesliga, with Gio Reyna (Dortmund), Joe Scally (Monchengladbach), Timothy Chandler (Frankfurt) and former USMNT player John Brooks (Hoffenheim) currently playing in the league German.
FC Cincinnati forward Brandon Vazquez has also been closely linked with Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach, while Ricardo Pepi is currently at Augsburg but a move to the Eredivisie has been speculated.
Aaronson is an exciting prospect and is looking to further his development in Germany as Christian Pulisic did earlier in Dortmund. If he joins the Union, Aaronson could link up with fellow US international Jordan Pefok, who joined the club last summer.
Before joining Leeds, Aaronson played for RB Salzburg in Austria and Philadelphia Union in Major League Soccer.
