Russian counter-attacks designed to deter Ukraine’s army are ill-advised and failing, according to a British military intelligence report.
Russian troops are trying to deter Ukrainian forces both in the direction of Orihiva and Bakhmut, with great efforts. However, in both directions, Ukrainian forces repelled these attacks and held the recently liberated territories.
British intelligence cites comments from representatives of the Russian military community that indicate deep disillusionment among the warriors who took part in these counterattacks, especially at Bakhmut.
They cited “ill-advised” offensive actions, lack of artillery support and heavy casualties, the report said.
Over the past nine months, the Russian occupiers in Ukraine have demonstrated that they are capable of conducting determined defensive operations, but not capable of offensive operations, according to British intelligence.
“They continue to demonstrate only minimal offensive capabilities. Commanders are trying to organize coordinated joint operations, concentrate sufficient artillery shells, and support morale and attack spirit,” the report said.
