The Ukrainian brigade, numbering between 3,000 and 5,000 soldiers, has been trained in Sweden to use modern Western equipment and could be one of the most combat-ready units to take part in the upcoming counter-offensive.
The Times reports that the Ukrainian brigade, which is being trained in Sweden, is equipped with Leopard 2 tanks, CV-90 combat vehicles and Archer artillery systems, making it one of the most powerful units in Ukraine’s armed forces.
“This month (May – editor’s note) it returned to Ukraine to be ready for combat,” reports the British newspaper.
This was the first media report on the training of Ukrainian units in Sweden, notes the Swedish public media “SVT”. Officially, the Swedish Defense Forces neither confirm nor deny such information.
At the same time, Swedish officers are known to have helped train Ukrainian recruits in the UK as part of Operation Interflex.
For example, Swedish instructors conducted classes for soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the installation of engineering barriers, their arrangement and overcoming.
