Lavrov was invited for the visit following North Korean chief Kim Jong-un’s visit to Russia final month.
“From October 18 to 19, on the invitation of the (North Korean) Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will pay an official visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea,” the ministry introduced.
Lavrov is at present in Beijing forward of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s upcoming visit to China.
Both Russia and North Korea, historic allies, are topic to international sanctions – Moscow for its invasion of Ukraine, Pyongyang for its nuclear weapons checks.
Moscow is believed to be inquisitive about shopping for North Korean munitions for its battle in Ukraine, whereas Pyongyang desires Russian assist to develop its internationally condemned missile program.
The United States mentioned final week that North Korea had delivered greater than 1,000 containers of army tools and ammunition to Russia in current weeks to be used in Ukraine.
