On Wednesday at 5 p.m., Riga plans to hold a protest action to express condemnation of Russia, which blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant (HEP) dam in Ukraine.

The protest action will take place in front of the Russian Embassy building. The action is organized by the “Viche” confederation of Ukrainian associations living in Latvia. The statement released by the Ukrainian organization indicates that the purpose of the protest will be to express a convincing position: Russia’s action in blowing up the Kahovka HPP is a crime, and the perpetrators must be brought to justice.

It has already been reported that Russian troops blew up the Kahovka HPP in the Kherson region on Tuesday morning, destroying its dam.

The Kahovka HPP is under the control of Russian troops, but after the dam was blown up, the territories on the right bank of the Dnieper, controlled by Ukraine, and on the left bank of the Russian-occupied territory were flooded.
